Type the car price before sales tax
0% complete
0% of First car
The price field is the vehicle price. Tax is calculated from it. Do not type a price that already includes tax unless the tax percent is zero.
Avoid taxing the tax
If the price already includes sales tax and you also type a tax percent, the loan is too big. Use the pre-tax price and the percent, or use the out-the-door amount and a tax percent of zero.
Fees you intend to finance and that are not sales tax can be added to the pre-tax price. Then the tax percent will also tax those fees, which may or may not match your state. Match the contract principal.
The price is the on-switch
A price above zero is what places the car in the month. Tax, by itself, is not stored as the signal. Clear the price if the car should leave the month.
The first visit does not invent a car price. The sample you see at the start is a home example, not a car.
Rebates
A rebate that lowers the price should be subtracted before you type the price. A rebate that arrives as cash later is not in the formula. You can treat the cash as a down payment if you will use it that way.
The calculator does not have a rebate field.
This explains how WiseCalculator treats the numbers you type. It is not a lender’s offer and it is not advice for your loan.
More in Car
- A trade-in larger than the priceTaxable amount cannot go below zero. The extra trade-in still reduces the loan like cash.
- Your car stays while you price anotherThe month keeps your car. A car you are considering is a separate estimate until you choose Use this car.
- What the car calculator does not estimateNo resale value, no insurance quote, no state fee table, and no fees rolled into the balance unless you put them in the price.
