Removing a paid-off debt

Set the balance to zero or delete the row. A zero balance leaves the month. Deleting the row removes it from the form.
Zero versus delete
A zero balance is ignored when the month is built. The minimum on that row is not added. The payoff list skips it.
Delete the row when you do not want the name in the form. Both updates are saved on the phone, and on the account if you are signed in.
The extra is reshared
After a row leaves, the extra payment is split across the debts that remain. Their dates can move earlier because each share grew.
If it was the only debt, the debt slice disappears from the month. Housing and car stay if they have amounts.
Do not leave a stale minimum
A balance you forgot to clear keeps a payment in the month you no longer make. Leftover will look too low. Clear it when the payment stops.
The calculator will not detect a payoff from your bank.
This explains how WiseCalculator treats the numbers you type. It is not a lender’s offer and it is not advice for your loan.
More in Debt
- Debts inside the household monthThe debt slice is the sum of minimums plus extra, for every row with a balance. It sits beside housing and the car.
- An extra payment of zeroZero extra means each debt runs on the minimum you typed. That is a complete picture, not a missing field.
- The six-hundred-month cap on a debtPayoff counting stops at 600 months. A debt still unpaid then has no finish date inside this tool.
