Maintenance as a monthly amount
0% complete
0% of First car
Maintenance is a monthly estimate you type. It is added to the car month and left out of the loan schedule.
An average, not a shop invoice
Oil, tires, and the repairs you expect can be turned into one monthly number. The calculator adds that number every month. It does not schedule a spike in month eighteen.
If you type zero, you are saying maintenance is outside this month. The total will look cleaner than the car will be.
Keep repairs out of the loan
A repair you put on a credit card is a debt, with its own balance, rate, and minimum. It is not maintenance inside the car loan. Putting it in both places counts it twice.
Maintenance in the car form is for the ongoing estimate. A card balance goes in the debt calculator.
It does not change interest
The interest on the car loan depends on the amount financed, the rate, and the term. Maintenance never enters that formula.
In the household month, maintenance is inside the car slice, so it does reduce leftover once take-home is typed.
This explains how WiseCalculator treats the numbers you type. It is not a lender’s offer and it is not advice for your loan.

- Fuel in the car monthFuel is a monthly amount you type. It continues whether or not the car is financed.
- Comparing two car loan offersBoth offers use the same amount financed and the same term. The cheaper one is fees plus interest over the hold.
- APR on a car loanThe note rate builds the car payment. The APR estimates lender fees paid up front and does not change the balance.
