Ownership costs after the car loan ends

This guide
Insurance, registration, maintenance, and fuel remain. The loan payment is the piece that stops.
See it by zeroing the loan
To preview the month after payoff, raise the down payment until the loan is zero, or set a price equal to the credits. The car slice becomes ownership only.
Write down the financed total first. This preview replaces the loan on the screen. The account will save the preview if you are signed in and you leave it that way.
The date does not flip the fields
When the payoff month arrives in real life, the calculator does not clear the term for you. Change the inputs when the loan is actually gone, or the month will keep a payment you no longer make.
Fuel does not know that you might drive less later. Type a new monthly fuel number when your driving changes.
A paid-off car in the debt list
If the loan lived as a debt row, delete that row or set the balance to zero when it is paid. A zero balance does not join the month. The car form should then show ownership without the loan, not a second copy of a payment.
This explains how WiseCalculator treats the numbers you type. It is not a lender’s offer and it is not advice for your loan.

- A 60-month car loanSixty months is five years of level payments. The yearly table has five rows.
- A 72-month car loanSeventy-two months lowers the payment and adds a sixth year of interest. Ownership per month stays the same.
- Type the car price before sales taxThe price field is the vehicle price. Tax is calculated from it. Do not type a price that already includes tax unless the tax percent is zero.
