A medical bill is a row with a balance, a rate, and what you pay each month. A zero rate is allowed.
Use the plan you have
If the provider charged no interest, type a rate of zero. The payment then reduces the balance dollar for dollar, and the month count is the balance divided by the payment, rounded by the same loop the other debts use.
If a bill was sent to a card, it is the card’s rate, not a separate medical rate. Do not list the bill and the card.
A payment plan
Type the monthly amount you agreed to as the minimum. The date should land near the end of the plan if the rate and the balance match the agreement.
A one-time bill you will pay this month can be a balance with a minimum equal to the balance. The date will be soon. It still joins the month for as long as the balance stays above zero.
Name it
“Medical” on the payoff line is enough. A hospital name is fine too. The name does not change the interest.
The common-name list includes medical debt as a shortcut. You can also type any label.
This explains how WiseCalculator treats the numbers you type. It is not a lender’s offer and it is not advice for your loan.
More in Debt
- A student loan as one rowEach loan you want in the month needs its own balance, rate, and payment. Income-driven plans that change the payment are not modeled.
- Naming a debt so the date is readableThe household month prints each debt’s name next to its payoff. Specific names keep those lines distinct.
- Total paid versus the balanceTotal paid is the balance plus the interest. The gap between them is the cost of paying on that schedule.
