Car insurance in the monthly total
0% complete
This guide
Insurance is a monthly amount you type. It is added in full and it does not end when the loan ends.
Monthly, not yearly
Unlike homeowners insurance, the car insurance field is monthly. Type what you pay each month. If you pay every six months, divide that bill by six yourself.
The calculator will not divide a yearly premium. Putting a yearly number in the monthly field overstates the car total by a factor of twelve.
It is not in the loan
Insurance does not change the amount financed, the chart, or the payoff month. It changes the ownership stack and the household month.
There is no lookup of carriers or of state minimums. The number is yours.
After the loan
The payoff date is the loan. Insurance remains a cost if you keep the car. The calculator does not drop insurance when the term ends. The month keeps showing it as part of car ownership for as long as the inputs stay.
When you mark the car loan as already listed in debts, the month keeps insurance, registration, maintenance, and fuel, and it drops the loan payment from the car slice so it is not counted twice.
This explains how WiseCalculator treats the numbers you type. It is not a lender’s offer and it is not advice for your loan.
